[00:00:30] Here's your TNB Tech Minute for Wednesday, January 8th. I'm James Rundle for The Wall Street Journal.

[00:00:36] We're exclusively reporting that Advanced Microdevices is investing 20 million dollars in drug discovery company Absci.

[00:00:42] The investment allows Absci to access the computing power it needs for its use of artificial intelligence at a lower cost.

[00:00:49] It will also give AMD a foothold in the life sciences market where it aims to compete with rival Nvidia over the growing market for AI chips.

[00:00:57] In 2023, NVIDIA invested $50 million in drug discovery company Recursion Pharmaceuticals,

[00:01:03] which then used its technology to underpin its AI modelling.

[00:01:06] The deal includes AMD taking a stake in Abcide, but the chipmaker didn't disclose the amount.

[00:01:12] OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is being sued by his sister, Anne Altman,

[00:01:17] over allegations that he sexually abused her for several years when they were children.

[00:01:21] Altman denies the accusations.

[00:01:22] The lawsuit alleges that the abuse occurred at their family home in Missouri

[00:01:26] from approximately 1997 through 2006.

[00:01:30] The lawsuit requests a jury trial and damages in excess of $75,000.

[00:01:35] Sam Altman denied the accusations in a post on X yesterday

[00:01:38] and said his sister has suffered from mental health challenges.

[00:01:41] Wall Street Journal owner News Corp has a content licensing partnership with OpenAI.

[00:01:46] And Meta says it will run a test allowing some users in the US, France and Germany

[00:01:51] to browse listings from rival eBay on its Facebook Marketplace platform.

[00:01:55] That comes after the European Union ruled that the link between its classified ads platform,

[00:02:00] Marketplace and Facebook violated competition laws.

[00:02:03] Meta is still appealing that decision, which also levied an $825 million fine on the social media giant,

[00:02:10] but said it was working to address the points raised by regulators.
