[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Wall Street Journal parent Dow Jones and the New York Post are suing Generative Artificial Intelligence search engine perplexity for copyright infringement.

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_01]: The publishers, which are both owned by News Corp, accused the startup of copying copyrighted news content and using it to generate responses to users' queries.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: The publishers claim this is siphoning away traffic that would otherwise go to their websites.

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the latest move in a broader battle between news publishers and AI firms that use their content.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Other news publishers have sent perplexity legal notices requesting that the search engines stop using their content.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: The New York Times sent the startup a cease and desist notice last week.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Representatives from perplexity didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Investors have poured more than $18 billion into technology funds this year.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: That's more than every other sector tracked by financial services company Morningstar combined.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Tech stocks, however, will face a big test in the coming weeks as investors get a look at earnings from the so-called Magnificent Seven group of technology heavyweights.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Tesla's earnings kick things off on Wednesday.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And the WSJ's TechLive begins today.
