[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Meta platforms and other companies have warned the European Union its regulations could cause the bloc to miss out on the full benefits of artificial intelligence.
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_00]: In an open letter coordinated by Meta, executives from more than two dozen companies call on the EU to harmonize and modernize its rules.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: The signatories say Europe has become less competitive and less innovative and risks falling further behind in the AI era.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Disney plans to stop using Slack as a workplace collaboration system following a hack that leaked more than a terabyte of company data.
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Disney's CFO said in an internal memo reviewed by The Wall Street Journal that most of its businesses would stop using the tool by the end of this year.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: A Disney spokesman didn't immediately provide comment.
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: A spokesperson for Salesforce, which owns Slack, declined to comment.
[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: The data leaked online this summer included a range of financial and strategy information,
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: as well as personally identifiable information of some staff and customers.
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And a report from the Federal Trade Commission says companies including Amazon, Meta and X lack adequate privacy controls.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: The agency found that these businesses aggressively collected the data of users and non-users and monetized it without sufficient oversight.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_00]: They used privacy-invasive tracking technologies and lacked adequate protections for children and teens on their sites, according to the report.
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: The findings are based on orders the FTC issued in 2020 to nine companies that own the world's biggest social media and video streaming platforms.
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Amazon, Meta and X weren't immediately available for comment.
