[00:00:04] The Goldman Sachs Podcast is brought to you by the Goldman Sachs Podcast.

[00:00:33] For TNB Tech Minute for Monday, December 9th, I'm Bao Lin for The Wall Street Journal.

[00:00:39] Beijing has announced an antitrust probe into U.S. chip juggernaut Nvidia, a move that comes

[00:00:46] a week after Washington ratcheted up controls on China's access to high-end semiconductors.

[00:00:53] For Beijing, the probe sends a message that China won't stand by quietly when targeted

[00:00:58] by trade and technology sanctions.

[00:01:00] That's according to industry watchers who also say the message has particular relevance

[00:01:06] as Donald Trump prepares to assume the presidency next month.

[00:01:10] An Nvidia spokesman said customers are free to choose which chips they use, and that the

[00:01:16] company wins on the merit of its products.

[00:01:19] OpenAI has released its long-awaited video generation tool Sora.

[00:01:24] People can ask it to generate a video as long as 20 seconds by using text, images, or other

[00:01:31] video.

[00:01:31] The maker of ChatGPT first previewed Sora in February.

[00:01:36] At the time, its abilities immediately impressed tech enthusiasts, who have been waiting ever

[00:01:42] since for it to become available to the public.

[00:01:44] But Sora will only be available to people who pay for OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus service.

[00:01:51] The $20 monthly subscription allows users to generate 50 videos per month.

[00:01:57] People who pay $200 per month for the recently announced ChatGPT Pro service can generate an

[00:02:04] unlimited number of videos.

[00:02:06] News Corp, owner of the Wall Street Journal, has a content licensing partnership with OpenAI.

[00:02:12] And Ryan Mittal and Autarion have said they will jointly develop standardized software for

[00:02:19] a range of military drones.

[00:02:21] The effort is expected to benefit Ukraine in its war against Russia and step up the West's

[00:02:27] deterrence efforts.

[00:02:28] Ryan Mittal, a German arms producer, and Autarion, a U.S.-based drone software company, said that

[00:02:35] they will create an industry standard for controlling and operating unmanned aerial, land, and

[00:02:42] naval drones.

[00:02:44] Autarion's CEO said the partnership aims to allow NATO countries to operate drones together

[00:02:49] by using a common operating system, similar to what Microsoft Windows meant for computer

[00:02:55] users when it launched in the 80s.

[00:02:57] The standardized software could also simplify and speed up the training of drone operators.
