[00:00:02] It's Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, and I'm Dave Sop, 3 things to today.
[00:00:07] Fortune 500 companies highlight the generative AI risks over their benefits, reflecting a caution
[00:00:13] in adoption.
[00:00:15] Intel Faces is set back with their 18A chip-making process raising doubts about its role
[00:00:20] in U.S. industrial policy goals, and ConnectWise Revamp's market place with unified interface
[00:00:27] and all of it enhances network management.
[00:00:29] This is the Business of Tech.
[00:00:34] A recent analysis of Fortune 500 companies' financial reports reveals that 22% mentioned
[00:00:39] generative AI, primarily highlighting its associated risks rather than benefits, while 70%
[00:00:46] of these mentions relate to potential dangers to competitive position and security only 31%
[00:00:52] acknowledged its advantages.
[00:00:55] A recent survey from Upwork indicates that 77% of workers believe AI tools have decreased
[00:01:01] their productivity and increased their workload as they spend more time reviewing AI-generated
[00:01:07] content and learning to use them.
[00:01:09] Despite 85% of company leaders encouraging AI use, many employees feel overwhelmed with nearly
[00:01:15] half unsure how to meet productivity expectations.
[00:01:19] An organization's face challenges in balancing human talent with AI tools as highlighted
[00:01:24] in companies new white paper.
[00:01:26] Key obstacles include increased technology costs, cybersecurity and privacy concerns,
[00:01:31] and the need for skills development linked to AI implementation.
[00:01:35] CompTI identifies six critical areas for skills building as AI adoption grows, emphasizing
[00:01:41] the importance of strategic planning to mitigate costs and enhance cybersecurity.
[00:01:46] Open AI reported that chatGPT now has 200 million weekly active users, doubling from 100 million
[00:01:53] in November of 2023.
[00:01:55] This growth has attributed to ongoing upgrades and new features, including expanded access
[00:02:00] to functionalities previously limited to paid users.
[00:02:04] Additionally, Open AI's enterprise API usage has doubled with 92% of Fortune 500 companies
[00:02:10] utilizing its products, reflecting a broader trend of increasing interest in AI across
[00:02:15] the industry.
[00:02:17] An open win-free will host a special title AI in the future of us on ABC, airing September
[00:02:23] 12th 2024.
[00:02:25] The program aims to educate viewers about AI, featuring interviews with notable figures
[00:02:30] like Open AI CEO Sam Alten, Bill Gates and FBI Director Christopher Ray.
[00:02:35] The discussions will cover AI workings, potential impacts on various sectors, emerging
[00:02:40] risks, and ethical considerations surrounding its use.
[00:02:44] Why do we care?
[00:02:46] When Oprah is doing a special, you know, a trend has hit the main strain.
[00:02:50] Let me start with the easy part.
[00:02:52] If I was an MSP today, I would make sure to watch the special and integrate some of
[00:02:56] the messaging and concerns into ongoing marketing.
[00:03:00] And you work back from there.
[00:03:02] Adoption of chatGPT is significant, and we're now in the real how do we make this work
[00:03:06] portion of adoption?
[00:03:08] This is a toolset that requires training and guidance, and thus why it's interestingly
[00:03:13] an opportunity for IT services.
[00:03:17] With as many breaches and security concerns as I report in this show, it should be obvious
[00:03:22] that cybersecurity is not just about technology, but also the human expertise needed to
[00:03:27] interpret and respond to complex threats.
[00:03:30] Huntress is focused on elevating SMBs and MSPs around the world.
[00:03:36] Huntress has a suite of fully-managed cybersecurity solutions powered by a 24x7 human-led
[00:03:42] stock dedicated to continuous monitoring, expert investigation and rapid response.
[00:03:48] And the proof is the execution.

[00:03:56] Want to know more about the platform?
[00:03:58] Visit huntress.com slash MSP radio to learn more.
[00:04:04] The Intel story I mentioned yesterday seems to have grown legs.
[00:04:07] Intel's advanced 18A chip-making process has encountered issues as tests with broad
[00:04:14] comes silicon wafers revealed it is not ready for high volume production.
[00:04:19] The setback comes amid Intel's financial struggles, including 1.6 billion in losses and
[00:04:24] significant layoffs.
[00:04:25] Despite these challenges, Intel maintains that the 18A process is healthy and on track
[00:04:30] for production next year.
[00:04:32] GSMOTO looked at Intel's lunar lake chips, now branded as Intel Core Ultra 200V, aiming to enhance
[00:04:40] power efficiency and performance compared to previous models, boasting a 40% reduction in
[00:04:45] PHY power.
[00:04:47] The lineup includes various models with the Ultra 9288V reaching speeds of 5.1GHz.
[00:04:55] While Intel claims improved AI processing capabilities, the focus is on integrated graphics
[00:05:00] performance and battery life, which still likes behind ARM competitors.
[00:05:05] The chips are set for pre-order with availability on September 24th, and Intel emphasizes
[00:05:10] their X86 architecture's advantages over ARM in gaming and application support.
[00:05:16] These issues impact the Biden Harris administration strategy for a US chip-making renaissance,
[00:05:22] which is in jeopardy due to Intel's financial struggles.
[00:05:24] These struggles raise concern about the company's ability to access a $20 billion subsidy
[00:05:30] package and potentially undermine the government's industrial policy goals, including securing
[00:05:36] advanced chip supplies for the Pentagon.
[00:05:39] And Reuters 2 picked the story up Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger and executives planned to present
[00:05:44] a strategy to the board in mid-September aimed at cutting costs and shedding non-essential assets,
[00:05:50] including the potential sale of the Altera programmable chip unit.
[00:05:54] The proposal may also involve reducing capital spending, including pausing a $32 billion
[00:06:00] factory project in Germany.
[00:06:02] Intel is facing significant financial challenges and has engaged Morgan Stanley and Goldman
[00:06:07] Sacks for advisory support on asset sales.
[00:06:11] By the way, do we care?
[00:06:13] So Intel is having more troubles with their chips, and the ones that are making are pulling
[00:06:16] back on AI promises, right at a time when the market is looking for AI capabilities.
[00:06:22] And the situation is so bad that they may not be able to take advantage of investment dollars.
[00:06:27] At some point, the conversation has to turn to leadership as the core problem.
[00:06:34] Connect wise has launched a revamped Connect wise marketplace,
[00:06:37] enhancing the user experience with a unified interface that facilitates access to
[00:06:41] what wide range of solutions for men and services providers.
[00:06:44] The new marketplace supports an open ecosystem with over 400
[00:06:47] venerary integrations, promoting flexibility and innovation.
[00:06:51] Future enhancements will leverage the Connect wise ASEO platform to improve integration
[00:06:56] experiences and provide advanced capabilities, aiming to empower MSPs with certified solutions
[00:07:01] that drive business growth.
[00:07:03] And all of it has enhanced its network management solution with new features,
[00:07:07] including North Star for network troubleshooting, an RM64 collection agent for cost-effective
[00:07:13] deployment, and a customizable alerting engine.
[00:07:16] These improvements aim to provide a more flexible and tailored user experience for IT teams,
[00:07:22] optimizing network monitoring, and management efficiency without additional costs.
[00:07:27] Why do we care?
[00:07:29] Tactical upgrades to keep you informed on.
