[00:00:00] It's Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, and I'm Dave Solbel, three things to note. Apple

[00:00:08] and negotiations to power Siri with Google's Gemini AI in their upcoming iPhone OS, some

[00:00:16] use cases for AI and healthcare, marketing, sports, and politics, and in-broad micro

[00:00:22] eyes and $8 billion IPO with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley for April launch. This is

[00:00:29] the Business of Tech.

[00:00:32] As we approach March 31st, it's time to mark your calendar trying World Backup Day. Since

[00:00:38] 2011, this global event has served as an annual reminder for customers to prioritize

[00:00:44] Deer protection. As an MSP, it also presents a golden opportunity for you to engage your

[00:00:49] customers in meaningful discussions about their coverage. With Skycake, you can confidently

[00:00:54] seize this moment to boost revenue and foster trust through comprehensive backup and recovery.

[00:01:00] They're hosting a webinar with a global panel of partners on March 26th, all about World

[00:01:05] Backup Day and how to maximize the MSP opportunity. Squirt checking out, visit skycake.com slash

[00:01:12] MSP Radio to download a free three-step guide and sign up for the webinar.

[00:01:20] Lots of AI to talk about today. Let's start with the broad industry wide news. Microsoft

[00:01:28] has quietly upgraded the free version of Co-Pilot to GPT-4 Turbo, offering advanced features

[00:01:34] and access to OpenAI's most advanced model for free. The upgrade improves the chat

[00:01:39] bot's ability to reason through logical questions addressing previous issues with GPT-4

[00:01:45] Turbo. The upgrade is significant as it allows users to experience the benefits of GPT-4

[00:01:50] Turbo without a subscription. Apple is reportedly in talks to integrate Google Gemini into

[00:01:56] the next iPhone operating system, powering Siri and other AI features. The move comes as

[00:02:02] Apple has been absent from the AI conversation and aims to catch up with competitors like

[00:02:07] Google and OpenAI on. While discussions are ongoing, Apple also plans to incorporate

[00:02:12] its own AI features into the operating system. The partnership with Google would build

[00:02:17] on their existing search partnership and give Google a significant advantage in the AI market.

[00:02:23] Apple's reported plan could face regulatory resistance due to concerns about monopolistic

[00:02:29] practices and competition in the search market. Speaking of Google, the company has introduced

[00:02:35] new AI-enabled features to enhance search results for health conditions. These features

[00:02:40] include the addition of images and diagrams from high-quality sources as well as treatment

[00:02:45] insights. Google also plans to expand visual health condition results on mobile devices.

[00:02:52] Additionally, YouTube is being utilized to provide health education, organizations like

[00:02:57] Mass General Brigham dubbing videos on chronic conditions in the Spanish.

[00:03:04] On health care, Microsoft is collaborating with NVIDIA to bring generative AI, cloud computing

[00:03:09] and accelerated computing to health care and life sciences organizations. The collaboration

[00:03:14] aims to accelerate innovation, improve patient care, and enhance clinical research, drug

[00:03:19] discovery, and medical imaging based diagnostic technology. The partnership will also accelerate

[00:03:25] genomics analysis and democratized AI for healthcare professionals through Azure AI.

[00:03:31] And on NVIDIA, the company has announced new Blackwell chips which are up to 30 times

[00:03:36] faster and used 25 times less power than their previous H100 chips. The Blackwell chips,

[00:03:44] named after mathematician David Harold Blackwell, offer significant performance upgrades with

[00:03:49] speeds of 20 pettiflops and 208 billion transistors. Ricing for the Blackwell chips has not

[00:03:56] been discussed. YouTube is implementing a requirement for creators to label videos that contain

[00:04:02] AI-generated content, specifically realistic looking synthetic content. This is part of YouTube's

[00:04:09] efforts to increase transparency and prevent user confusion or misinformation.

[00:04:14] Creators will need to disclose if their content includes altered footage, depicts a realistic

[00:04:19] looking scene that didn't occur, or makes a real person say or do something they didn't do.

[00:04:25] Failure to comply may result in penalties such as content removal or suspension from the partner

[00:04:31] play. Why do we care? NVIDIA gets on the headlines as hard work is hot again when it comes to AI,

[00:04:39] taking it due to the high costs associated with AI. Deal making as much as model capacity will be a

[00:04:47] fact. Apple with Google could be a counter to open AI with Microsoft, Amazon with Instropic.

[00:04:54] Ecosystems will be forming of collaboration, particularly due to that high cost of compute

[00:04:59] I'm already highlighting. And YouTube is going for the honor system. We'll see how long that lasts.

[00:05:08] Now let's talk some use cases and specific industry technologies. Bio-excelerate, a health

[00:05:14] data science division of Optima Partners Limited has developed an AI tool called Piliograps.

[00:05:21] The tool can analyze complex medical data 100 times faster than existing models,

[00:05:27] helping identify genes, proteins and cells contributing to disease. Piliograps, TLEIO,

[00:05:34] GRAP8 has shown significant cost savings and reduced time to insight making drug discovery

[00:05:41] faster and more efficient. Encilical medicine claims to have created the first true AI drug that

[00:05:48] is being tested for its ability to cure a fatal lung condition in humans. The drug's development

[00:05:54] was aided by AI software that determined the target inside a cell to interact with

[00:06:00] and the drugs chemical structure. Several biotech companies have used AI in drug development,

[00:06:05] but no AI drugs have been approved yet. Encilicose drug candidate has progressed to phase two trials,

[00:06:12] but its true impact remains to be seen. Pfizer introduced Charlie, a generative AI platform

[00:06:19] focused on farm up marketing. Charlie aims to streamline content creation and enhance marketing

[00:06:24] strategies through centralized intelligence and collaboration tools. The platform offers automation,

[00:06:30] natural language processing and predictive analytics to provide personalized insights.

[00:06:37] An rival group has launched a female lead AI driven intelligent branding organization

[00:06:41] focused on women's sports and business through a merger with real business and fused solution

[00:06:46] that will create brand specific AI driven ecosystems to improve performance and consumer

[00:06:52] perceptions. The new software will also help industries with large supply chains,

[00:06:57] increased participation from women owned and diverse owned businesses.

[00:07:02] Google DeepBind has developed an AI assistant called Tactic AI to suggest tactics for soccer

[00:07:09] set pieces. By analyzing a data set of quarter kicks taken by Liverpool FC players,

[00:07:15] Tactic AI uses predictive and generative AI models to provide recommendations on player positioning

[00:07:21] and potential outcomes. Experts who assessed Tactic AI's suggestions favored its strategies over

[00:07:28] existing tactics 90% of the time, indicating its potential usefulness for human coaches in real life

[00:07:35] games. The method could also be applied to other sports and team-based games.

[00:07:40] Productive has launched Sidekick, an AI powered chatbot designed to revolutionize SaaS

[00:07:46] management. Sidekick allows users to access critical insights and recommendations through

[00:07:51] natural language queries, streamlining workflows and saving time. Integrated with productives

[00:07:57] spend management platform, Sidekick can pull data on software application growth, analyze usage

[00:08:02] and assist licensed renewals and negotiation. According to the Wall Street Journal, Jason Palmer

[00:08:09] an underdog presidential candidate in American Samoa utilized AI in his election campaign

[00:08:15] using generative AI to communicate with voters via text and email and an avatar that answered

[00:08:21] questions in his voice and likeness. Despite conducting his entire campaign virtually,

[00:08:27] Almer credits his use of AI as a meaningful factor in his 11 vote victory. The AI allowed for

[00:08:34] personalized engagement with voters and efficient outreach, benefiting his lean campaign with limited staff.

[00:08:42] Why do we care? As always, I love to use cases that provide practical applications for you

[00:08:47] to consider for your customers. I don't expect you to use all of these, but knowing about just one

[00:08:54] might make the key difference. IT distribution giant Ingram Micro is reportedly working

[00:09:01] with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley on an $8 billion IPO that could launch in April. This would

[00:09:08] not be their first attempt as they previously filed for an IPO in 2022 but later passed on the

[00:09:15] opportunity. In your micro went private in 2016 when China-based HNA Group acquired it before

[00:09:22] being acquired by platinum equity in 2021. The company has been making moves to better position

[00:09:28] itself for investors, including layoffs and facility closures. Why do we care? Not entirely sure,

[00:09:36] we do kick it. At that size and scale, most providers simply aren't going to be impacted.

[00:09:42] There's certainly confidence in Ingram Micro's market position and future growth prospects.

[00:09:47] The move is strategic aiming to capitalize on the current market conditions,

[00:09:51] favorable for technology and distribution companies. It does suggest favorable market conditions,

[00:09:57] which is good for the industry brought to you.

[00:10:01] Today's episode is supported by Corview. Your customers need your Microsoft 365 expertise
